The Performance Doctor: The Mindset That Keeps Doctors Stuck in Business
Will you level up? Or stay the same?
You can’t expand if you are contracting.
This was a quote shared by one of my best friends a while back.
We were talking about ways to expand the office, provide new services, and scale.
I’m pretty sure I’ve had the same conversation with him multiple times.
“You can’t expand if you are contracting.” Dr Hughes said.
We are both fitness enthusiasts therefore a lot of our conversations have training ideologies behind them.
It’s true.
You cannot grow in a business if you are constantly looking for ways to “save money.”
While it’s a good idea to understand your budget, know your income and expenses.
You cannot grow, if you are thinking of shrinking.
There comes a point where you have to spend money to grow.
You may have to:
Start an ad campaign on social media
Pay ambassadors to promote you
Buy the new device to increase services
Pay for legal/accounting services
Hire employees
Update software
Update your place of business
Attend seminars
These are all expenses you may think will save you money by avoiding them.
But are they saving you time?
Is avoiding any of the above providing you with more time for your family? To grow your business? To spend on patient care?
I’m not saying you have to spend money every month and all the time.
There is such thing as cutting unnecessary expenses.
For example.
By avoiding spending money on ads you rely on face to face interactions. Don’t get me wrong.
I love a good social outing.
But will you be doing face to face interactions every day? Driving to other businesses daily? Spending all that time every day growing your business rather than treating patients?
Running a local ad on social media doesn’t have to be expensive. Can drive costumers directly to your page and provides you with data you can measure.
Hiring a virtual assistant for when you are not in the office isn’t expensive either. You’ll spend less time answering spam calls and won’t miss important calls.
It’s 2025.
Thinking small will keep you small.
It’s time to level up your mindset and leverage the tools you have to your advantage.
Think BIG, and go after it.
Which one are you?
I’ve been approached about putting together a few business resources for our colleagues and I would like your input on this.
